Our 2021 programming theme is The Work Left to Do, and within that theme we explore a different focus each month. In the first Tea of the month, we look at a topic from a broader perspective to understand the universal and legal challenges. For the second Tea of the month, we speak with those doing the work to educate and/or advance change so we can understand the continuing challenges and how we can contribute to change in our own communities. For the month of November, our programming is focused on immigration and refugee justice.
Our November 4, 2021 guests are Allen Orr, the 2021-2022 President of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and Karen Siciliano Lucas, Immigration Justice Campaign Director, American Immigration Council (AIC). AILA is the national association of more than 15,000 immigration lawyers and educators established to promote justice, advocate for fair and reasonable immigration law and policy, advance the quality of immigration and nationality law and practice, and enhance the professional development of its members. AIC works to strengthen America by shaping how America thinks about and acts towards immigrants and immigration and by working toward a more fair and just immigration system that opens its doors to those in need of protection and unleashes the energy and skills that immigrants bring.
