Educator Seminar: Evidence Comes in All Forms

March 13, 2026 @ 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Overview

What counts as evidence? At the Nuremberg Trials, prosecutors presented not only documents and testimony, but also film, photographs, and artifacts of human experience. This one-day professional development seminar invites educators to explore how different disciplines, history, literature, art, science, and mathematics, use and interpret evidence. Through hands-on sessions, participants will consider how diverse forms of evidence can deepen students’ critical thinking and civic understanding while connecting back to the work and legacy of Justice Robert H. Jackson.

Led by

Elizabeth Hosier, Director of Programs at the Robert H. Jackson Center - With a background in museum education and public history, Elizabeth designs programs that invite teachers and students to explore how history, law, and civic values intersect. Her work centers on helping educators use primary sources and evidence-based inquiry to foster meaningful classroom conversations.

Through programs, presentations, exhibits, media, internships, and scholarship, the Center seeks to demonstrate to current and future generations the relevance and applicability of Justice Jackson’s ideas and writings. The Center provides educational content on the United States Constitution and Supreme Court, civil rights, the legacy of the International Military Tribunal at Nuremberg and international human rights, and the rule of law. During his illustrious career, Justice Jackson addressed these subjects, and the Center recognizes his thinking remains relevant today.
