Kenny Macdonald grew up on the Gulf Coast of Texas and has a background as a radio news reporter, photographer, and digital content producer. He studied journalism at Texas A&M University and earned a Masters in Strategic Communications at the University of Oregon.

His first job at age 14 was as a tour guide for a historic mansion in his home town, very similar to the Kent Mansion in which he now works, which feels a little full-circle. Ashton Villa played a prominent role in genesis of Juneteenth in 1865.
