On Friday, September 19, 2025, the Robert H. Jackson Center welcomed community members, educators, and students for our annual Constitution Day program. This year’s program featured Dr. Lindsey Cormack, author of How to Raise a Citizen (And Why It’s Up to You to Do It) and Director of the Diplomacy Lab at Stevens Institute of Technology.
Each Summer, Kristan McMahon, the Center’s president, provides a State of the Center address at our Society Dinner. This State of the Center is as of July 27, 2025 and shares the Center’s successes, opportunities, and goals, both near-term and longer-term. We look forward to engaging you on our journey and to your feedback.
On Monday, August 11, 2025, more than 1,200 people filled the Hall of Philosophy and the grounds around it at Chautauqua Institution for the 21st Annual Robert H. Jackson Lecture on the Supreme Court of the United States.
Civic education is more than memorizing amendments or learning about branches of government; it’s about preparing students to actively participate in their communities, understand their rights and responsibilities, and think critically about the world around them. It was four powerful days of interdisciplinary learning, critical inquiry, and collaboration grounded in the enduring lessons of the Nuremberg Trials and the atrocities that led to them.
