Mr. Petit was a co-prosecutor for the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia until September 2009. He worked with Cambodian Chea Leang from 2006 through 2009 prosecuting violators of international criminal law in Cambodia, specifically Khmer Rouge leaders for their actions between 1975 and 1979. Petit also served as a Crown Prosecutor in Montreal for eight years, and as a lawyer in the office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. Between 1999 and 2004, Mr. Petit was a legal advisor for the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo, a prosecutor for the Serious Crimes Unit of the United Nations Mission of Support to East Timor, and a prosecutor for Special Court for Sierra Leone.
