Brenda Joyce Hollis is the Chief Prosecutor for the Special Court for Sierra Leone (SCSL). Her February 2010 appointment to the SCSL continues her outstanding career as an international law and human rights advocate. Prior to her appointment to the SCSL, Ms. Hollis worked as an Expert Legal Consultant on international law and criminal procedure, training judges, prosecutors, and investigators for various international criminal tribunals. From 1994 until 2001, Ms. Hollis served as Senior Trial Attorney at the International Criminal Tribunal for Yugoslavia. Her work in the ICTY was greatly influential in shaping humanitarian legal rights claims and was instrumental in preparing the case against former Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic. Ms. Hollis also previously assisted the Office of the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda in preparation for its first case. Until her recent appointment, Ms. Hollis served as the Senior Trial Attorney at the Special Court, leading the prosecution against former President of Liberia, Charles Taylor.
