The Robert H. Jackson Center's 10th Anniversary Celebration
On October 7, 2010 at 6:00 p.m., the Robert H. Jackson Center celebrated its 10th Anniversary at the Athenaeum Hotel at The Chautauqua Institution. Cocktails were followed by an warm welcome by Chautauqua Institution's President, Tom Becker, an invocation by Father Moritz Fuchs (Jackson's bodyguard at Nuremberg), and a statement by Board Member E. Barrett Prettyman, Jr. who was Justice Jackson's last law clerk. After dinner and brief program that featured remarks by Jackson scholar John Q. Barrett, a roast of Greg Peterson by Ron Hermance and an important message by Board Co-Chairman Joe Zanetta, we were joined by special guest Mark Russell. It was in December of 2000 that Jackson Center founders Greg Peterson, Betty Lenna, Carl Cappa and the Gebbie Foundation first met to discuss the creation of an institution dedicated to advancing the legacy of Justice Jackson. The Jackson Center is now celebrating 10 years of exceptional programs, events, and exhibits. This event was the culmination of hundreds of educational programs in the Center’s past, thousands of visits to the facility, and a decade’s worth of memories. We also paused to honor President Greg Peterson as he "passed the gavel" to our new Board Chair, Stan Lundine. There is much to celebrate as we gaze from the precipice of these accomplishments to an even brighter future.
