Elizabeth S. Lenna Fairbank, who passed away on April 15, 2011, believed that it was vital to honor Justice Robert H. Jackson prominently in Jamestown, and that knowledge of his accomplished life, enduring ideas and major legacy should be advanced by a significant institution. In 2000, she thus became one of the Robert H. Jackson Center’s original, extremely generous benefactors. During the Jackson Center’s first decade, she served on its Board and was vital to its successes.

Betty Lenna’s work for the Jackson Center was part of her lifelong commitment to enriching lives. In addition to the Jackson Center, she was particularly proud to have been a founding member and trustee of the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, and to have made possible the Elizabeth S. Lenna Hall and the Catholic House at Chautauqua Institution.

Among many honors, Elizabeth S. Lenna was recipient of the Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa, and the Gaudete Medal from St. Bonaventure University and the Paul Harris Fellow award from the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.
