Law Day 2004
To Win Equality by Law: Brown v. Board at 50
Our celebration of Law Day is of significant importance this year. Not only are we celebrating our great heritage of fair and impartial justice, but also we are using the topic, Brown v. the Board of Education of Topeka, as a springboard for the visit of the Brown sisters, participants in the famous case, on April 28 and April 29, 2004.
We are asking you to consider participating in Law Day by one of several ways.
Middle School Students Invited
Local area students are invited to the Robert H. Jackson Center at 9:30 a.m. on April 22. Teachers are invited to bring their classes to watch local students perform an original play written-especially for Law Day- by Bunbury Theatre playwright Matt Kraft. Students will leave the Jackson Center with an understanding of the conditions in the South during this time period, and the importance of the contributions of Linda and Cheryl Brown, of Brown v. Board of Education, to the history of this country. The visit should be enjoyable as well as a valuable learning experience that establishes the concept of this year's Law Day.
