With his expert knowledge and insider’s perspective, Toobin examines the Court’s sagas from the Rehnquist years through the first full term of the Roberts Court, which ended with a series of blockbuster opinions in the spring of 2007. Based on exclusive interviews with Supreme Court Justices and other intimates, THE NINE depicts the difficult decision process of such landmark cases as Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania v. Robert P. Casey, Bush v. Gore, and Lawrence v. Texas and analyzes the decisions and their impact. In addition, Toobin presents vivid, personal portraits of the justices, the arduous confirmation processes, and the eventual shift to the conservative right that Republicans have been pursuing for nearly three decades.
Following his Jackson Lecture on July 7th, Jeffrey Toobin will be signing books at Chautauqua Institution. To order copies of The Nine, click here..
