“That four great nations, flushed with victory and stung with injury stay the hand of vengeance and voluntarily submit their captive enemies to the judgment of the law is one of the most significant tributes that Power has ever paid to Reason.” — from Jackson's Opening Statement before the International Military Tribunal

Shared Services: What You Need to Know

Shared Services: What You Need to Know is the topic of the upcoming Continuing Legal Education Seminar scheduled for April 22, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jackson Center. Stan Lundine, chair, of the Commission on Local Government Efficiency and Competitiveness, is the keynote speaker. The program will also include well-known bond attorney Kenneth W. Bond of Squire, Sanders & Dempsey LLP, and a one-hour ethics component. Eddie Abramoski, former trainer for the Buffalo Bills and author of the “Tale of the Tape: A History of the Buffalo Bills from the Inside” is the luncheon speaker.

In an effort to streamline government at every level and bring relief to New York’s 4,200 taxing jurisdictions, Governor Spitzer signed an April 2007 executive order creating the Commission on Local Government Efficiency and Competitiveness. Former New York Lieutenant Governor, Congressman and Jamestown Mayor, Stan Lundine, was appointed to chair the commission, which is charged with making recommendations for local government merger, consolidation, shared services, smart growth and regional services. The committee’s recommendations are due on April 15, 2008, one week prior to this CLE Program.

Developed primarily as a continuing legal education seminar for attorneys, the seminar will appeal to a cross-disciplinary audience of lawyers, municipal officials, business leaders, school administrators, bankers, and other professionals.
