The board of directors of the Robert H. Jackson Center Inc. has appointed Daniel Bratton as its executive director. Bratton most recently served as president of Chautauqua Institution, stepping down in January.
“We are tremendously fortunate to have someone with Dan’s talent and experience to lead the way in developing a living museum and tribute to one of the leading jurists of the 20th century,” said board President Gregory Peterson. “Having someone of Dan’s stature linked with the center is in itself a tribute to Justice Jackson.”
During has 16-year tenure as president of Chautauqua Institution, Bratton enhanced the Institution’s reputation as an internationally recognized theological and intellectual retreat as well as expanded its accessibility to area residents.
The center, which is located at the former Scottish Rite Consistory building at 305 East Fourth Street, will feature exhibits of Justice Jackson’s opinions and writings, as well as promote his values and scholarship.
Jackson, a resident of Frewsburg and Jamestown, served as a Supreme Court Justice from 1941 to 1954 and, most notably, was chief prosecutor for the United States at the war crimes trial at Nuremberg.
