HSBC Bank USA Sponsors Brown v. Board of Education Event

The Robert H. Jackson Center announced today that HSBC Bank USA is one of the major corporate sponsors for a series of events dedicated to remembering the 1954 U.S. Supreme Court decision, Brown v. Board of Education, is HSBC Bank.

“We are very pleased that HSBC Bank USA has given a substantial contribution to support these events,” said Greg Peterson, President of the Jackson Center.

“HSBC is an important presence here in Western New York and throughout New York State and we appreciate their commitment to the educational opportunity these events offer the students of this area and across the state.”

Mr. Peterson explained that a series of learning opportunities taking place at the Jackson Center would culminate in two major events scheduled for April 28th and 29th. “On April 29th, Linda and Cheryl Brown, plaintiffs in the Brown v. Board of Education case, will be interviewed at a Roundtable discussion at Chautauqua Institution. The event will be simulcast on the Jackson Center’s website and will be broadcast through the BOCES Distance Learning facilities. We are also sponsoring a statewide essay contest on the issues surrounding the Brown decision. The winners of that contest will be receiving a $500 savings bond and an expense paid trip to Jamestown and Chautauqua to meet the Brown sisters.”
