Perpetrators Exhibit Extended at Jackson Center

Jamestown, NY—Oct. 27, 2007 – The Robert H. Jackson Center announced today that the ÒPerpetratorsÓ exhibit now on view in the CenterÕs gallery will be held over through June 15, 2008—extending well-beyond the original closing date of October 31.  The exhibit, made possible in part to the generous support of Bush Industries, Inc., has received an overwhelming response since its September 1 opening.

Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

ÒPerpetratorsÓ is a collection of large-scale prints by internationally recognized artist Sidney Chafetz.  These starkly rendered portraits and biographical texts depict the ÒordinaryÓ men who implemented the policies of the Third Reich and carried out the atrocities of the Holocaust. The exhibit is designed to educate, provoke discussion and encourage study among all age groups.

A resident of Columbus, Ohio, Chafetz is emeritus professor of art at The Ohio State University. He graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design and then served in the U.S. Army in England, France, Belgium and Germany from 1942–1945. His work is included in private and public collections in the U.S., Africa, Europe, South America, Israel and Japan.

ÒResponse to this exhibit has been phenomenal, and we are pleased to extend the exhibition through mid-June 2008,Ó stated Adam Bratton, executive director at the Jackson Center. ÒThe generous support from Bush Industries, Inc., and the support from many others, has allowed us to advance the legacy of Justice Jackson in this unique way.Ó
