Jackson
Center To Host Guest Speaker
The
Hon. Carl L. Bucki will appear as the keynote speaker of a continuing legal
education seminar at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, at the Robert H. Jackson
Center.
ÔÔOverview
of New Bankruptcy Act of 2005ÕÕ is a free seminar and luncheon for attorneys
desiring to earn three Professional Practice/Practice Management credits at no
cost. Registration must be made in advance to Mary Parsons, Phillips Lytle,
LLP, 3400 HSBC Center, Buffalo, N.Y. 14203, at 847-5461.
The
deadline for registration is Friday.

Bucki
has served the Western District of New York as a bankruptcy judge since his
appointment to that post in December 1993. He graduated from Cornell Law School
cum laude in 1976. At Cornell, he also served as articles editor of the law
review. After working as a confidential law clerk to the Hon. Matthew J. Jasen
of the New York Court of Appeals, Bucki entered the private practice of law,
first at the firm of Moot & Sprague and later at the firm of Cohen, Swados,
Wright, Hanifin, Bradford & Brett. From 1986 to 1993, he also held the
position of national counsel for the Polish Union of America. Bucki has
lectured and written extensively on bankruptcy issues, and has served as a
governor of the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges.
