“That four great nations, flushed with victory and stung with injury stay the hand of vengeance and voluntarily submit their captive enemies to the judgment of the law is one of the most significant tributes that Power has ever paid to Reason.” — from Jackson's Opening Statement before the International Military Tribunal

The Facility

Through the generosity of its benefactors, in 2001 the former Alonzo Kent Mansion was purchased to be the home of the Robert H. Jackson Center. This 1860s beautiful Italianate structure will house the administrative and programmatic functions of the Center.

The Robert H. Jackson Center
Jamestown, New York

Attached to the Mansion is a 200-seat auditorium that was formerly used as an event center for the Masonic Orders in Jamestown. A large banquet hall is also in our facility. These spaces are available to the community-at-large for meetings and events. The Center also includes three conference rooms. One is our boardroom, which once served as the dining room of the mansion. Named the Grant Room, President Ulysses S. Grant once ate lunch in this room during one his visits to the area. Now fully restored, the Grant Room is the ideal room for special meetings. Another conference room has been dedicated to Bar Association as a place where meetings can be held and educational programs can be conducted. A portion of the Robert H. Jackson Center is also used to house documents and artifacts associated with the life and ideas of Justice Jackson.

Several facility improvements have been completed and are in the process of being completed in the near future. These improvements are updating the buiding and grounds and providing the Center with renovated space and new equipment for a variety of professional, educational and community activities.

A variety of technical resources are available for meetings and functions at the Jackson Center. The Jackson Center offices are open from 9:00am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday. Please call us at (716) 483-6646 to discuss your interest in the Jackson Center.
